Terms of use

Last updated 7 October 2026
These terms govern your use of YapHive — the iPhone and Android apps, the website at yaphive.com, and the web app installed from it. Signing in is accepting them. If you do not accept them, do not sign in.

Who you are dealing with

YapHive is operated by Vorster Consulting GmbH, Austria. The full company details are on the Imprint page.

Invitation-only

There are no public Hives and no way to sign up on your own. You are in because an admin of a Hive gave you an invite code, and that Hive's admins decide who stays. An invitation can be revoked before you use it, and a Hive can remove you afterwards.
In each Hive you wear a persona: a name, a picture and a line about you that belong to that Hive and are invisible from every other one.

You must be 16

YapHive is for people aged 16 and over. Signing in is you telling us that you are. An account we find to belong to somebody younger is deleted.

Your account

You sign in with Apple or with Google, so there is no YapHive password to lose — which means the account you sign in with is the account: keep it secure. One person, one account. An account is not something to share or to hand on.

Your content stays yours

Everything you post remains yours. You give us the permission we need to run the service and nothing beyond it: to store your content, to show it to the members of the Hive you addressed it to, to make the resized copies the app serves, and to keep it in backups. That permission ends when the content does, apart from backups already written, which roll over on their own cycle.
You are responsible for what you post: that you are allowed to post it, and that it breaks nobody else's rights.

Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive members

There is no tolerance here for objectionable content or for abusive members. None — and that is a rule with teeth rather than a sentiment.
You may not post, send or upload anything that is illegal; any sexual content involving a minor, in any form; pornographic or sexually explicit material; anything that threatens, harasses, bullies, stalks or incites violence against anybody; hate speech or content attacking people for who they are; content glorifying self-harm, suicide or eating disorders; content promoting terrorism or violent extremism; somebody's personal details published to expose them; malware, phishing or fraud; spam; or anything infringing somebody else's rights.
Every Yap, every reply and every message can be reported from inside the app: open its menu and choose Report to admins — Report message, in a chat. Reports reach that Hive's admins, and serious ones reach us.
You can block another member of your Hive. Their Yaps and replies stop appearing in your feed and in the threads you read, and the notifications they would have sent you stop arriving; blocked from a chat, the two of you stop being able to message each other in that Hive at all. A block is yours to make, it is not announced to them, and it changes what reaches you rather than deleting what they have already written for other people.
We review every report and act within 24 hours. Content that breaks these rules is removed and the account that posted it is suspended or terminated. There is no quota of warnings to work through first: one serious violation is enough to end an account.

What else you may not do

Do not try to reach a Hive you were not invited to, or data that is not yours. Do not scrape, automate or resell the service. Do not impersonate anybody. Do not interfere with the service or with the people using it.

Moderation, and ending your account

A Hive's admins moderate their own Hive: they can remove content and remove members. We can remove content and suspend or terminate an account anywhere on the platform, and for anything in the zero-tolerance section above we will.
You can leave a Hive at any time, and delete your account at any time — see the Privacy page for what deletion takes with it. If you are the sole owner of a Hive, hand it over to another admin first.
We may suspend or end the service, or your access to it, for a serious breach, for a legal obligation, or because the service itself is stopping. We will give notice wherever we reasonably can.

The service as it is

YapHive is provided as it is and as it happens to be available. It is a small service: there is no uptime promise, and what it does changes. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose you have in mind for it.

Liability

We are liable without limit for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, and for injury to life, body or health. For slight negligence we are liable only for the breach of an essential contractual obligation, and then only for the damage typical and foreseeable in a contract of this kind. Liability under the Austrian Product Liability Act is unaffected.
We are not liable for what members post. YapHive hosts that content; it does not write it, within the meaning of §§ 13 to 19 of the Austrian E-Commerce Act (ECG).
Nothing in these terms limits a right you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by agreement.

If you got the app from the App Store

These terms are between you and us, not between you and Apple. Apple has no obligation to furnish support or maintenance for YapHive and is not responsible for any claim you may have about it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

Changes

We may change these terms. If a change matters, we will say so in the app before it takes effect, and continuing to use YapHive afterwards is how you accept it.

Law and venue

Austrian law applies, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. The courts of Eisenstadt, Austria have jurisdiction.
If you are a consumer, that does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in, and you may sue and be sued wherever the law says a consumer may.
